Katarina Sonja Rodriguez is a stunning 24 year old athlete-turned-model-turned-beauty queen. She finished Philosophy and Business Administration at the De La Salle University. Fans loved her when she represented the Philippines alongside Jodilly Pendre in the second season of Asia’s Next Top Model. She was a runner-up in the said reality show.
In an interview, she mentioned that she has decided to join Bb. Pilipinas as fans and friends would always ask her to enter the pageant world. It was a little later when she realized that she too has gained interest in it and realized that it could be a platform where she can campaign and continue on her advocacy in life. She took to her Instagram account the said advocacy on being healthy and fit which also pushes the #SaveSexy campaign that promotes HIV/AIDS awareness. She once said that “My family has taught me to work hard and well for everything I want and need, and once you have excess, they’d say, you extend a helping hand to those who have less. I have worked hard to have enough for myself and a little more to give back.”
After having been crowned as 2017 Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental, Katarina had to clear the confusion that she is not accepting her crown. She had asked the public to stop making assumptions and said it is not true and that she is sleeping with her Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental crown. For which has led her to excelling in her training up to her representing the Philippines in the recently concluded Miss Intercontinental which was held at the SUNRISE Garden Beach Resort in Hurghada, Egypt.
Pilipinas! ?????? Philippines! I know that the voting has not been working and for me specifically, but please do not give up hope on me or Miss Intercontinental. Instead just pray to Papa Jesus that I win what I came here for, the crown. I know everyone wants to vote and is frustrated that they cannot vote, but let us remember by grace through faith and that being negative no matter how heavy a feeling we have will help us triumph. Please pray with me and I will do my best here to perform for you, our country and God. Thank you so much for your passion, but let us keep positive. With all the gratitude in this universe, thank you. ?? ??? #MissIntercontinental #MissIntercontinental2017 #MIO2017 #TheMostBeautifulWomenOfAllContinents #Egypt #SUNRISEResorts #SUNRISECrystalBay #SUNRISEMeetsBeauty #KatareynaMIO2017
During the pageant’s finals night, Katarina Rodriguez was declared as Miss Intercontinental Asia and Oceania as she placed third in the online voting of the pageant. So, her plea for support in the photo above that she posted in Instagram resulted positively.
During the Q&A, Katarina was asked as to what is the most important thing she learned in joining Miss Intercontinental. Her answer was “The most important thing that I have learned in joining Miss Intercontinental is an Arabic word named after one of the Sunrise Resorts and that is Meraki. It means to do all things with passion, soul, and creativity. When I heard this word and its definition, it resonated with me until now and I think it will for the rest of my life. Therefore, that is the most important thing I learned while participating at Miss Intercontinental. That is to do all things with soul, passion, and creativity.”
Here is the EXACT moment where I turned FULLY into a woman. Congratulations to Miss Mexico @veritosalasvallejo the new Miss Intercontinental 2017! You are a vision, truly. I came to Egypt for one thing and one thing only: the Miss Intercontinental crown. This crown to me represented my becoming a real woman. Myself, and DOZENS of people behind me dedicated so much time and effort to ensure I would win. I cannot say I would have done anything differently because I was very aware from the moment I stepped into the NAIA airport of every action and word I produced. I can tell you that after rewatching the coronation last night I can confidently say I was FLAWLESS. Never had I been more ready for anything in my life. I had hundreds of thousands of people right behind me and each of you were the gas to my fire. It was not about me anymore it was about YOU. Here is the thing though, a queen does not necessarily have to be flawless. The Intercontinental crown did fall off Miss Mexico’s head when she was crowned and YES, I did have to pick it up and hand it to her. How could I not say it was such a painful thing for me to do? But when giving the crown to her I swear to you there was this energy that went through her and straight to me and this is where I knew I am no longer a child but a woman. Seeing her beautiful face while handing it back to her, well, I felt PROUD for her, and no pain at all. It was the lightest feeling I have felt in weeks. That crown was never mine and somehow always her’s. I don’t want to read any comments talking superstitions or anything hurtful especially from my Filipinos. Vero is a queen and she is MY queen, MY Miss Intercontinental 2017. She is a sweetheart and very much deserving. She taught me grace by her energy and warmth in a matter of seconds and only a true queen could empower another woman in such a manner. Let us keep that grace Philippines, for this is only the beginning. Viva Mexico, Viva Pilipinas. ?????
Katarina gracefully accepted ending the pageant as 1st runner-up. I personally think that the experiences, friendships and learning she gained by representing the Philippines has changed her and in her words, she “turned FULLY into a woman”. She actually has a beautiful message of love and congratulations she also posted in her Instagram account for the newly crowned Miss Intercontinental Veronica Salas Vallejo of Mexico.
We can definitely say that Katarina Rodriguez has represented our country so well and although we all wanted her to take home the crown and be the first Filipina to win the title, she is still a queen.
So what actually happened last 2017 with your goals? Did you focus on travel, relationship or financial goals? We’re you able to achieve what you have targeted? If not, fret not! You do not have to be hard on yourself because there are a lot of people (me included!) who did not perfectly achieved their goals for 2017. Good news is, it is a brand new year. We are all given the chance to start again, continue, add more goals and make new beginnings.
This new year, if we ended way below 100% achieving the goals we have set back then, then there has to be a different approach. New rules and terms has to be implemented. As they most people would say, change is necessary. Start with getting yourself a planner or an unused notebook to keep track of these goals. Might as well list down the goals in front and at the back of your planner. At the end of the year, you can easily check out which ones you have not yet achieved.
Sharing with you are some tips I got from a few financial planning seminars and training I have attended last year that you may want to try as well:
- Write down your goals and their terms.
- On paydays, pay yourself first.
- Avail of a VUL insurance policy. (It is a good Medium to Long Term investment tool)
- Eliminate your debt.
- Cut down on the amount of TV time. (Unsubscribe to Netflix if you must!)
- Turn your hobby into a small business.
- Pack your lunch and avoid fast food.
- Declutter and do a yard sale.
- Avoid out of network ATM fees.
- Stick to cash and stop using your debit or credit card if you have one.
- Avoid items not in the grocery list.
- Walk to work, carpool or take public transportation.
- Go DIY (Cards, gifts, coffee and even repairs!)
- Exercise and drink more water.
- Grow your own veggies.
- Quit smoking.
- Balance your YOLO attitude.
- Focus on your goals. (Eyes on the prize!)
There is no guarantee all these tips will actually help or have a massive effect in achieving your goals but trying them out will sure help YOU. When you become aware and become a lot more observant of your own attitude, then you have improved. You have matured. You become a better version of yourself. And, if you have shared the goals you have set to a family member or a friend, they have learned from you too. Achieving your goals became a happy process in the end, right?
Just keep going and trying for there is a ripple effect in everything. And remember, when you keep trying new things for you to achieve your goals, and you put your heart in it…there is no way you would not get it.

We all go through a phase in life where you are wanting something you cannot really name or have a hard time determining what. Then you hear and read words that are not really in the encouragement category and may not really be pointed or thrown at you but affects you so much and breaks your heart a lot more. That confusing feeling that somehow stresses you out because it keeps bothering you day and night. Then this confusion causes depression and then makes you feel that you have become a little crazy that you find yourself crying over the littlest of things. Well, we all are, crazy. At some point, end of last year and early this year, I somehow have gone through this phase. I think I have been coward to go for what I really want for a long time. It doesn’t mean that I opted for something I do not want and something that is not right though. It just came to a point that I came to realize that there is a gap within me – a blank space I needed to fill in with something beautiful maybe. Something happy. Something warm. Something brighter. And that something will sure allow me to go further, fulfill dreams and help me a lot to become the better version of what I opted to do and be at the past and of course, be the best version of me for the future. And at the end of it all, this big step I took is not really about me after all… but for the people I love most. We are all like plants that needed water and sunlight to be at our best and give either fruit or flowers to the people around us. Sometimes you (the plant) can even give both flowers and fruits, and even more.
I came to realize that this quote/phrase from Eckhart Tolle I have read sometime ago is indeed true. I would like to share it with you too.
There are times that stress is also cause by not “wanting to be there” but also by over thinking. By being so negative by some thing or someone new to you even if you have not given it a try or chance to prove its worth.
LIFE is a battle for some, a game of gamble for some and even like a wheel of fortune for others. No matter how you look at it, no matter how you go with the flow, no matter how take it…we all are going for the life that we want.

When I was little, you’ll find me doodling and reading more than I am in front of the computer now. Besides the fact that I love drawing, we did not really have a computer yet then. Ha! Ha!
Kidding aside, here are some words to inspire us this time of the year. I know for a fact that a lot of us are on “vacation” right now, enjoying. But there are still a lot of us too, that is taking the time to do a little soul searching and some others repent their sins in many simple and complex ways they can. but however we spend our Holy Week, these words would sure remind us of something about us and much more, about life.
Humility, bravery, love, trust, family values, peace, friendship and positivism are just some of what we, as humans, should really incorporate within ourselves. It may be a little hard but with open-mindedness and HIS guidance, we will be who we want to be and should be, we will get to where we belong and we should be – slowly but surely.

Are you a customer service representative?
If you are, did you go through a thorough training to be a GREAT CSR?
You may be puzzled as to why bother be great when you can still be the CSR that you are. At the same time, you must have been made aware of the differences in each customer – needs, demands, attitude and status. You maybe right, that you don’t have to be well trained to be a great Customer Service Representative. Why do I say so? Simply because servicing a customer is just like lessons in life – you learn it by experience!
But perhaps, keeping in mind these 20 great customer service replies would help you to be an outstanding CSR.
- How can I help you today?
- I’m happy to do that for you.
- What is most convenient for you?
- I’m sorry there is a problem. We’ll make it right.
- What do you think would be fair?
- Is that all right?
- Let me make sure I have this correct.
- Thank you for being so patient.
- I’ll get right back to you. (And please make sure you do)
- We value our customer’s input.
- I’ll pass your comments along.
- Let me find out for you.
- I know exactly what you mean.
- Would you like me to review anything with you?
- You’re welcome!
- Do you have any questions?
- I’ll take care of that right away.
- Is there anything else I can do for you?
- I’m glad I could help you.
- We appreciate your business.
- Please call / come again.
Another tip I have for you is that never give false hope. It is really okay to tell a customer if you can’t do or can no longer do anything to resolve an issue or a situation, just as long as you tried and was honest. And one more thing, these replies are nothing unless delivered properly and in the right tone. Remember, it is not what you say, it is how you say it.

It is now up to you who you would like to be.

It defines who YOU are!”
